Although this holiday season is looking a bit different than we had anticipated, we are delighted to share this year’s “12 Days of Christmas” countdown. Get your ugly Christmas sweaters, eggnog, gingerbread houses and Christmas trees ready and check out our list of virtual events below so you can #HawaiiFromHome for the holidays and make it a December to remember.   • December 14 – Holiday Sounds of Halekulani: Get into the holiday spirit by turning on our Halekulani Spotify playlists.  Enjoy a special Hawaiian Holiday playlist featuring some of our House Without A Key performers and special Mele Mei guests. Start listening now.
  • December 15 – Ugly Sweater Day:  Show off your ugliest sweater with pride and share photos with us by tagging @HalekulaniHotel on social media.
  • December 16 – Gingerbread House Making & Decorating: You have made our Mai Tai and coconut cake, but have you ever made… well… a mini gingerbread house model of Halekulani, that is?  We want to see your creations! Bonus points go to those that add in our Orchid pool or kiawe tree. Be sure to tag us on social media using @HalekulaniHotel.
  • December 17 – ‘Tis the Season for Self-Care: The holidays can be hectic, so it is important to take time for yourself. Experience total rest and relaxation tips from SpaHalekulani’s Director of Spa & Wellness Kamala Nayeli. Kamala recommends listening to this guided meditation by Liquid Mind, Deva Premal for healing or calming Hawai’ian lullabies by local recording artist Noelani Love.
  • December 18 – Holiday Breakfast Bites: Whip up Halekulani’s popover recipe and imagine you are dining at Orchids for Christmas breakfast. View the recipe here.
  • December 19 – Trim the Tree with Halekulani: As you are decorating your Christmas tree this year, share a photo on social media with a Halekulani ornament on the tree. Be sure to tag @HalekulaniHotel for a chance to be featured. 
  • December 20 – Honolulu City Lights: Enjoy the bright lights by taking part in a drive-by and online tour of some of Honolulu’s festive décor. Drive-by viewing displays will include the following: Shaka Santa and Tutu Mele at Honolulu Hale, the city’s 50-foot Christmas tree, Honolulu Hale adorned with seasonal decorations, oversized displays and lighted trees on King Street and holiday message board displays from city departments. Online and virtual events include an online interactive visit with Santa and photos of wreath contest entries shared online.
  • December 21 – Teatime Tranquility: Planning for the holidays can be stressful. We invite you to take a moment to relax and unwind with a calming tea. Some teas that Director of Spa & Wellness Kamala Nayeli recommends for helping to calm the body include the following: Herbal Tisanes such as Chamomile blends, Hibiscus flowers (hot or iced), Ginseng, Licorice, Rooibos and Holy Basil.
  • December 22 – Hawaii Symphony Orchestra’s Sounds of the Season: Earlier this month, our “For You, Everything” partner, the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra, performed a virtual “Sounds of the Season” concert. Listen to your favorite Christmas classics by watching their performance on demand now.
  • December 23 – Halekulani Holiday Virtual Wallpapers: Whether you are having a holiday Zoom party or simply want to admire the holiday décor at Halekulani, we invite you to Hawaii from home and download our holiday virtual wallpapers.
  • December 24 – Storytime with Mrs. Claus: A holiday storybook accompanied by some hot chocolate with Halekulani Bakery & Restaurant’s famous Brownie Bread is the perfect way to spend the night before Christmas. View the recipe here.
  • December 25 – Santa’s Arrival in a Canoe: Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!  Recreate your own version of Santa’s arrival in a canoe and be sure to share on social media tagging @HalekulaniHotel.
