The taste of The Brando comes to Halekulani

In its 36th year, the film festival celebrates the stories of Polynesia and Asia, as well art and culture in Hawaii. This year, Halekulani is also hosting a dinner in conjunction with one of the most anticipated films of the festival.
Listen to me, Marlon, presented by Halekulani, is the definitive Brando documentary. The 80-minute film is being shown at a free screening on Thursday, November 10 at 8:00 p.m. at the Dole Cannery. Compiled entirely from hundreds of hours of private audiotapes that the actor recorded, it follows Brando’s career and personal life, with the actor as guide. This screening will be followed by a special discussion with Marlon Brando’s daughter, Rebecca Brando.
In advance of the film, on Wednesday, November 9, at 5:30 p.m., Halekulani is hosting An Evening with The Brando, a dinner event at La Mer, the finest restaurant in Honolulu. Guests will experience five menu items with wine pairings. The dinner is in conjunction with The Brando, the intimate resort on the exquisite Polynesian atoll of Tetiaroa, 30 miles north of Tahiti where Marlon Brando called home. The meal and menu will be specially designed by Guy Martin, owner of the Michelin-starred restaurant, Le Grand Véfour Paris, and realized by Bertrand Jeanson, The Brando Executive Chef.
Chef Guy Martin’s innovative recipes have earned him two Michelin Stars, among other awards. His work has allowed him to transport his expertise to destinations such as The Brando, where his menu concept is featured at the resort’s elegant dining venue, Les Mutinés. He will bring this talent and inventiveness to An Evening with The Brando, as he crafts a French Polynesian-inspired menu at La Mer.
