Are there accessible (barrier free) rooms available?

ADA rooms are available in the partial Ocean View, Ocean Front, Diamond Head Ocean Front, and Pool View Suite categories.

Check in / Check out times

Check in time is 3:00 pm; check out time is 12:00 noon. Please provide your flight information prior to arrival so that we are able to anticipate your hotel arrival time. With this information, we will do our best to accommodate you upon your arrival, however if we are not able to provide an early check in or late check out, we do have our complimentary hospitality suite, located on the second floor with our business center. This suite has lockers and showers available for guests to freshen up upon their arrival or prior to departure.

Directions to hotel

  • Proceed onto H1 Freeway heading east toward Honolulu.
  • Take the Nimitz Hwy exit (Hwy 92) and continue east.
  • Nimitz Hwy. becomes Ala Moana Blvd. Stay on Ala Moana Blvd. until it meets Kalakaua Ave.
  • Turn right onto Kalakaua Ave. and proceed to Lewers St.
  • Turn right onto Lewers St. and continue to Kalia Rd.
  • Turn left onto Kalia Rd.
  • The Halekulani driveway is on the right

Guaranteed Reservations and Deposits

To guarantee reservations, a credit card guarantee is required at the time of booking the reservation. Cancellations received within 72 hours or non-arriving guests will be assessed a one-night's room charge with applicable taxes.

Suite Deposit/Cancellation:

A credit card guarantee is required at time of booking and will be assessed one-night's room charge with applicable tax 30 days prior to arrival. Full non-refundable prepayment of room rate and applicable tax is subsequently required 7 days prior to arrival. Cancellations received within 30 days of arrival will be assessed a one-night's room charge. Cancellations received within 7 days of arrival are subject to full cancel charge of room rate and applicable tax.

Orchid Suite, Halekulani Suite, Royal Suite, Executive Luxury Suite Deposit/Cancellation:

To guarantee reservations, a one night's deposit, non-refundable, is required at time of booking. Full pre-payment is required 30 days prior to arrival and is non-refundable in the event of cancellation. If the reservation is made within 30 days of arrival, full non-refundable pre-payment will be required.

May vary according to season.

How can I connect to the Internet?

Wifi is complimentary at Halekulani. When you open a browser while on property on either your laptop or mobile phone, a window will appear with a button to click to allow your device to access the wifi connection.

I have a child under 17, is there an additional cost for an extra bed?

There is no additional charge for one child 17 years old and under, utilizing existing bedding. Should an extra bed be required, $50 + taxes will be assessed per night (rooms are limited to one additional bedding). Crib / cots are complimentary.

Is smoking allowed in the rooms?

Smoking and the use of e-cigarettes are prohibited in all guest rooms and guest room lanais. There is a designated smoking area located next to the Gatehouse waterfall adjacent to the front entrance of the hotel. All other areas of the hotel are prohibited by Hawaii State Law.

Third Person

Maximum of three persons to a room; third person (18 years and older) is an additional $145 + taxes per night.


Are there children’s menus available?

Children’s menus are available and the chef is always happy to create a Keiki sized “grown up” dish!

Can you arrange something special for an anniversary?

Please call our dining reservations and they will be happy to arrange anything from a custom flower arrangement from our inhouse florist to that hard to find vintage Champagne from our Wine Spectator’s Best of Award of Excellence award winning wine list.

Is there a dress code for the restaurants?

  • For La Mer, we request elegant evening attire for women. Dinner jackets or dress shirts, dress slacks and shoes for gentlemen. As an elegant fine dining restaurant, La Mer restricts patrons to adults and children eight years and older.
  • For Orchids’ Breakfast, Lunch, Brunch, and Afternoon Tea, resort causal wear is requested. Tank tops, beachwear, exercise attire, and flip flops are not permitted. For Orchids’ Dinner, casual elegant attire is requested. Casual T-shirts, tank tops, beachwear, exercise attire or flip flops are not permitted.
  • For House Without a Key casual resort attire with footwear is required.

Live music at Halekulani

Halekulani has continuous live music nightly as follows:

  • House Without A Key (Hawaiian Music)- 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm
  • Lewers Lounge (Jazz Music) - 8:30 pm to midnight (Sun - Thurs); 8:30 pm to 12:30 am (Fri - Sat)

What restaurants are open for breakfast?

We have two options for breakfast. Enjoy a casual dining breakfast buffet experience including a made to order omelet station while sitting at the historic House Without A Key, or delight in an extensive a la cart breakfast selection including signature dishes such as the Folded Banana Ricotta Pancake at our oceanfront restaurant Orchids. On Sundays, Orchids features an award winning Sunday Brunch.

Weddings & Events

Can I have a wedding ceremony at the hotel?

We offer three ceremony sites here.  The site is dependent on where your reception will be, and size of your group.

Can we do a formal reception tailored to a specific decoration?

This is our specialty to customize all details of your wedding to match your vision.

Do you have a recommended vendor list, and are we able to bring our own vendors?

We do have a list of great vendors, but you are not required to use them.  We do require a day-of Wedding Coordinator.

Do you have overnight accommodations for weddings?

Our reception package offers complimentary rooms based on your food total.  We also offer a 20% discount to all guests attending your wedding (based upon availability).

Do you offer other wedding accommodations?

We have five private event venues here to accommodate groups between 10-300 guests.  Parking is complimentary for all guests.

How far in advance can we book?

We allow bookings beyond a year in advance.

Which of your restaurants can receptions be held at?

Orchids, our main dining room, is the perfect location for receptions between two to 20 guests.

Pool / Beach / Fitness

Am I able to reserve a table with an umbrella?

Reservations for poolside tables and umbrellas can only be reserved for guests staying in the Orchid, Halekulani and Royal Suites. We ask all other guests to select their seats upon arrival to the Pool.  (Please see Pool Policy for detailed information.) Please note that articles left unattended on seats for more than 75min, will be removed in an effort to accommodate other guests.

Are there refreshments served at the Pool?

A variety of complimentary refreshments are offered throughout the day beginning at 11:00am.  In addition, we have just launched our ice cream cart featuring homemade gelato and tropical sorbet for a nominal charge. (The signature “Kitchen Sink” gelato is one of the top favorites)

Beach Access

The beach access for hotel guests is located near the restrooms toward the Diamond Head side of the Pool area. Hotel guests will need their key card to access the gate upon exiting and re-entering the property.

Fitness Center Information

Our Fitness Center is open from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

How do I rent a surfboard?

Our Concierge team can assist with making all water sport activity arrangements.

Pool Hours

Our iconic heated Orchid pool, which consists of 1.2 million glass tiles in a mosaic design of a Cattleya Orchid, is a destination in itself amongst our guests.  

Hours of Operation:

  • March – May 7:00 am to 7:00 pm
  • June – August 7:00 am to 7:30 pm
  • September – October 7:00 am to 6:30 pm
  • November – February 6:30 am to 6:30 pm

Please note that large inflatables are not allowed in the pool.

What is the length, depth and temperature of the Pool?

  • Length = 82’x46’ (25 meters to 14.08 meters)
  • Depth = 3.5’ to 5’ feet (1.067 meters to 1.524 meters)
  • Temperature = 84 degrees F (29 degrees C)


Should I shower after my massage or facial?

We recommend that guests receiving a massage or facial refrain from showering/bathing for at least one hour after treatment. This will allow the product ingredients time to absorb into the skin for optimal benefits.

Spa attire

We welcome guests to come to their appointment wearing comfortable clothing and be prepared to undress in the privacy of the ‘suite-style’ treatment room for your massage or facial.

What is the Spa tipping policy?

All Spa and Salon services include an 18% service charge, which includes gratuity for the provider. Therefore, no additional tips are expected.

Tours & Excursions

Can I reserve tickets to Pearl Harbor in advance?

Yes. Please visit to make your reservations direct. If tickets are SOLD OUT, or Concierge can assist with making alternative arrangements through a tour company. 

Exclusive Arts & Cultural Venue Access

Halekulani guests have access to some of Oahu’s finest art and cultural venues with our “For You Everything” Program. Your hotel key card will grant you complimentary admission to the Bishop Museum, Honolulu Museum of Art, Honolulu Museum of Art at the Spading House, Iolani Palace, Doris Duke’s Shangri La, as well as our Art & Architecture tour that allows you to explore the Liljestrand House. Guest Parcels & Mail

How do I collect my package or mail when I check in to the hotel?

Please present a photo I.D. and sign for the package at our Concierge desk.

How should I address my package/mail?

Please use the following as a template to label your packages:

  • Name / Dates of stay
  • Guest of Halekulani or ATTN Concierge
  • 2199 Kalia Road
  • Honolulu, HI 96815

Is there any cost to send packages/mail to the hotel?

If a package arrives more than 90 days before your check in date there will be a $25 fee per package for long term storage.

Is there any information the hotel needs to accept my incoming packages/mail?

Being able to provide the carrier and tracking information to our staff allows us to better anticipate the item’s arrival.

What happens if my package/mail is scheduled to arrive after I have checked out?

Please notify our Concierge team before you check out that you are expecting items. We will hold unclaimed packages for 45 days.

Who should I contact about packages/mail I am having mailed to the hotel?

Our Concierge department will be happy to assist in mailing packages to the hotel. 


Parking & Rental Cars

Overnight parking is $39.00 + tax per night effective 1/1/2019. We do have cars available for rent on property. If you rent a Hertz vehicle through our Concierge department, then overnight parking is complimentary.  For more information, please contact our Concierge.

Resort Fees

There are no resort fees at Halekulani.

Time zone

HST (Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time). Hawaii does not observe Daylight Savings Time.
