For a night of phenomenal jazz music performed by some of the most talented and legendary jazz musicians in the country, look no further than Lewers Lounge at Halekulani. Tucked away in our historical Main Building, this hotspot for contemporary jazz music has hosted numerous world-renowned musicians over the years, including the likes of the Count Basie Orchestra, Eddie Henderson, Diana Krall, David Benoit, Dave Koz and Tony Bennett.
Years ago, many guests fondly remember being lucky enough to have walked into Lewers Lounge to see a special impromptu performance by esteemed jazz pianist Diana Krall after her concert with the Honolulu Symphony. This was the early inception of “Live at Lewers,” a popular series featuring jazz virtuosos like two-time Grammy award winning jazz singer Jack Jones; jazz trumpeter and recipient of a Halekulani Lifetime Achievement Award, Dr. Eddie Henderson; and Po’okela Award Winner and local opera virtuoso Blythe Kelsey.
Beyond “Live at Lewers,” our regular line-up of weekly entertainers is equally as impressive. Some of these talented performers include jazz pianist Tommy James, former conductor and director for the Duke Ellington Orchestra; brilliant jazz musician Rockford “Rocky” Holmes, a talented performer on clarinet, saxophone, oboe, and flute; and jazz vocalist Maggie Herron, a four-time Na Hoku Hanohano award winner.
We hope to see you at a performance in the future. As we wait in anticipation for the reopening of Halekulani, you can still experience the amazing jazz sounds of Lewers Lounge from the comfort of home by listening to the Lewers Lounge Spotify playlists.
